The 61,000sf historic YWCA of Hamilton, Ohio was renovated to better serve the women and families of Butler County when dealing with issues such as racism, domestic violence, literacy, and low-income housing. The facility serves a wide range of uses from general offices to a battered women’s shelter and required a complete upgrade on all mechanical and electrical components. As part of the upgrade, the existing steam boiler system and piping was replaced with a new, high efficiency hot water system. All of the residential spaces were equipped with separately controlled HVAC systems. Also, new plumbing and electrical systems were installed. HAL-PE employees had no original mechanical drawings for the building and had to complete working drawings for the entire original building prior to designing the renovation drawings. This building is listed on the National Historic Register, placing severe restrictions on modifications to the outside of the building. Located an hour away from the HAL-PE office, our employees had no problem researching and completing this challenging project.
MEP Construction Costs: Approximately $1,75M.
